La actriz japonesa Rinko Kikuchi fue nominada al Oscar como Mejor Actriz Secundaria por su papel en "Babel", filme dirigido por el mexicano Alejandro González-Iñárritu ("21 gramos", "Amores perros", "11 de septiembre").

También la película Cartas de Iwo Ijima, versión grabada en idioma japonés, del director Clint Eastwood, fue nominada a Mejor Película y Mejor Director.

Pero la cinta que ha obtenido la mayor cantidad de candidaturas a los premios de la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas ha sido Dreamgirls, con 8 nominaciones.

La noticia fue anunciada ayer y la ceremonia de entrega de la 79 edición de los Óscar está prevista para el 25 de febrero en el teatro Kodak de Los Ángeles.
